Who is Eligible?

Any boy or girl ages 5 to 8 residing or attending school within the Jefferson School boundaries or waived from another association.
 

Mite Hockey Guidelines

For the upcoming 2019-2020 season a MITE is a player born between:  7/1/10 to 6/30/14.

     

Participation.  Youth Hockey players must register and participate with the association whose boundaries incorporate the player’s residence. If a player desires to participate on a team from any other association, the player must obtain a waiver.

  • Residence Qualification.  The Jefferson/Kennedy boundary line runs down France Ave between Hwy 494 and 98th Street. It then jogs eastward to Xerxes Ave and runs southward to the southern most part of Bloomington. Map

  • School Attendance Qualification.  Children attending Poplar Bridge, Ridgeview, Normandale Hills, and private schools in the Jefferson area may play hockey for Jefferson Mites. A waiver is required if your association of residence is not Jefferson.  Children attending Olson, Hillcrest or Westwood may play hockey for Jefferson Mites without a waiver ONLY if they do not live in the Kennedy area.

What is the Cost?

Registration Fees for the 2019-2020 season are as follows:
  • $50.00 for 1st Year Mites and $400.00 for Returning Mites. 
  • The USA Hockey registration fee of $50 is not included in these fees and must be paid when registering with USA Hockey. 

Rental Equipment

Equipment is available to for players to rent for the use of the season for a deposit, which is refunded when the equipment is returned.  Please email us at jhbcmites@gmail.com if you would like more information or are interested in renting equipment. 

Players need to have their own skates, stick, neck guard, and mouth guard.

When/Where are Practices and Games Held?

  • Indoor Practices and games are typically held on Saturdays and Sundays. Times vary, but most ice times are in the morning or early afternoon.
  • Most ice times are at the Bloomington Ice Gardens (BIG). We also reserve ice time at other nearby arenas (Richfield Ice Arena) when ice is not available at BIG.
  • Dry-land training in Jefferson area elementary school gyms or outdoor ice practices may be held once during the week.
