PWAs Take Second in Rochester
Congratulations to the PWA team for winning their second place finish in Rochester. The Jags beat Rochester Black 5-0, Minneapolis Storm 5-1 and Luverne 5-0 to earn a spot in the finals. In the championship game, the Jags faced a tough Rochester Red team and ultimately lost 1-4. Overall though, it was a fun weekend with a lot of very good hockey!

This is a follow-up to our discussion at the Parent Meeting on Tues. MN Hockey requires that players be supervised by an adult (at this age, the adult should be a male) while they're in the locker room. I will be assigning every family, in rotation, locker room supervision shifts for practices, games and scrimmages. What this means is that, for practices, when you bring your own player to the rink 30 min. before practice, that you should also go into the rink, go to the locker room and stay there until a coach arrives. For scrimmages and games, you should be in the locker room 45 min. before game time. If you cannot cover your assigned shift (i.e., because mom is in charge of player drop-off that night), it is YOUR responsibility to find a replacement. Thanks.
Also, locker room volunteers and coaches should be aware of and comply with the following: The adult volunteer should go to the rink office (whether at BIG or an away rink) and get the locker room key when they arrive. (You may need to turn in your car keys for collateral, but keep reading. . .) When the coach arrives in the locker room, give him the locker room key and get the coach's car keys. On your way out of the rink, swap the coach's keys for your keys. The coach should then LOCK the locker room during the practice or game (and then should remember to unlock when the game/practice ends). We had several instances last season of locker rooms being ransacked and phones, Ipods, money, etc. being stolen. This even occurred on BIG 1 when the thieves would have had to walk right by the stands to get to and from the locker room. BIG 3 is even more vulnerable. It is a simple thing to lock the locker rooms and it is important that it is done.
