Purpose:
Skaters Keep Achieving Through Education (S.K.A.T.E.) was established in 1993 to encourage, support, and reward youth hockey players who commit themselves to their schoolwork while enjoying the sport of hockey.
Goals:
It is the goal of the S.K.A.T.E. program and the Jefferson Hockey Association to increase awareness among youth hockey players that performance in the classroom is more important in life than their performance on the ice.
To Qualify:
S.K.A.T.E. program players must attain at least a 3.0 grade-point average during the hockey season. For Jefferson players (Squirt and above) this means your second quarter grades or your first trimester grades depending on your school.
Parents are also encouraged to help by reminding your player about the importance of school and how they will be recognized for their good grades.
Become a Sponsor of our Jefferson S.K.A.T.E. program:
If you or your company would like to become a sponsor of the S.K.A.T.E. program at Jefferson, contact Kris Graves. Being a sponsor can mean donating a door prize to be awarded at the recognition event, or donating money towards purchasing awards and prizes. No donation is too small and all donations are really appreciated by the players. Each company or person making a donation will receive a detailed receipt and all donations are tax deductible. Sponsors will be recognized on the Jefferson website and at the recognition event.
