The Bloomington Jefferson Hockey community lost a wonderful friend last week. Mike Quinn passed away on December 13th after a courageous 8 1/2 month battle with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Mike coached Bantam A’s for 6 years (2 as an assistant and 4 as head coach) from 2003 - 2009. During that time Coach Quinn was known for his big smile and oversized / giving heart. “Coach Quinn taught me to never quit and to always believe anything is possible. Being on a Mike Quinn team meant checking your ego for the good of the team. He truly cared about us as young men, not just hockey players. He told me that as long as he had a 1% chance of beating cancer he would keep fighting. I’ll miss you Coach.” — Caleb Herbert
Mike is survived by his wife, Kessea Moses; stepdaughters Alex and Jessie Erickson; devoted parents Mike and Sara Quinn; sister Molly Quinn Jensen; nephews Devon Quinn and Garrett Jensen and niece Alora Jensen. Please keep Mike’s family in your prayers. Thank you Coach Quinn!
